Padmasana (Lotus Pose) is one of the most important postures for Prāṇāyāma and meditation in the Iyengar Yoga method. B.K.S. Iyengar describes it as a posture in which the legs, trunk, arms and head work together in balance, allowing the spine to lift effortlessly. More than a seated pose, Padmasana organises the entire body and creates the foundation for a free breath and a quiet, steady mind.
In this workshop, we will explore the path towards Padmasana step by step. We will develop the necessary mobility and stability, study the essential actions of the legs, pelvis and spine, and practise a range of preparatory poses as well as variations of Lotus Pose.
The aim of the workshop is to deepen your understanding of Padmasana and to develop a stable, balanced foundation for your own yoga practice.
Suitable for practitioners with a regular Iyengar Yoga practice (approximately one year or more) and without acute injuries or significant restrictions of the hips, knees or ankles.
