A yoga workshop for beginners and experienced practitioners of Iyengar Yoga aged 50 and over who want to consciously improve their strength and flexibility.

As we age, our bodies change—as do our expectations and how we treat ourselves. It’s less about “Where do I want to go?” and more about “How do I want to be?” Hormonal changes, loss of muscle strength, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, depression and anxiety, loneliness… these are just some of the challenges we may face in old age. 

Yoga can help you to perceive changes and accept limitations. It helps to develop stability, flexibility, and serenity.

In this workshop, we will practice postures from the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute’s curriculum, which was developed specifically for this stage of life. We will address different needs and learn how to modify the asanas we practice so that they can be performed safely and effectively.

We will explore why “more gripping, less stretching” is so important in old age. How do I use props correctly and what effects can be achieved with them? How can I integrate yoga into my daily routine?
