Jayne is a direct student of ‘Guruji’ since first meeting him in Oxford in a Master Class when she was only a teenager – a pivotal moment that completely changed her life. Jayne made annual trips to Pune to study with him and the rest of the family since the early 1980s. In 2010, B.K.S. Iyengar awarded Jayne an Advanced level certification which only a few teachers worldwide received from Guruji. She is the Director of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Birmingham (the name was suggested by BKS Iyengar himself) in England which opened in 2002 with Iyengar’s full blessings.
Jayne’s extensive career in teaching has spanned for 40+ years and taken her around the globe, including teaching Iyengar Yoga conventions and intensives in Europe, the United States, and Canada. Over the years, Jayne has taught all kinds of classes fro children, teens, and pregnancy classes to sessions for severly disabled students. For many years, Jayne has been the yoga teacher to the first team at Birmingham City Football Club, working alongside the physiotherpists and doctores to assist the players. Jayne has run therapy classes at her own yoga studio for many years.
