Inverted poses are a central pillar of asana practice. In Iyengar Yoga, Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) are considered particularly powerful poses for physical and mental renewal. They are symbolically referred to as the king and queen of asanas because they profoundly influence and stabilize the entire organism.

They promote circulation, the nervous and endocrine systems, support digestion and immune function, and at the same time provide mental clarity, calmness, and new energy.

In this workshop, we explore the connection between basic standing poses and classic inverted poses. Step by step, we develop a precise understanding of how Sirsasana, Sarvangasana, and related inverted poses can be practiced safely, stably, and consciously.

The focus is on:

• Preparing the shoulders, wrists, and legs

• Building strength, balance, and alignment of the spine

• Variations and supporting aids

The workshop is for anyone who has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for at least one year and would like to deepen their technique, safety, and self-practice in inverted poses.
