Pranayama: Going Deeper into Yoga
“The mind is the king of the senses but the breath is the king of the mind.” -B.K.S. Iyengar
In this workshop, we will explore more refined and advanced practices of pranayama and is for everyone who has previous experience in pranayama in the Iyengar yoga tradition. Even experienced yoga practitioners struggle to establish and deepen their pranayama practice and in this workshop we will explore various pranayama techniques and approaches that help quieten the mind and balance the rebalance the body.
Iyengar yoga approaches pranayama practice in a unique way. We encourage people to have a minimum of 1 year of consistent Iyengar yoga practice before beginning pranayama. The reasons are multi-fold: to build physical and mental stamina, body awareness, and strength in the nervous system to thoughtfully and safely practice pranayama. Nurturing these essential qualities, builds the foundation for a successful and enriching yoga practice. You do not have to have attended Part 1 of this workshop, only have pranayama experience.
This workshop is open to all yoga students with previous experience in pranayama in the Iyengar yoga tradition.
