Mobility and Stability of the Hips

In-Person and online workshop with Katrin Voigt on Saturday, 22 April 2023

“It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered
the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence.”
(B.K.S. Iyengar, Light on Life)

Stiff hips and lack of flexibility in the gluteal muscles and hip flexors cause other parts of the body to compensate. This can be the cause of various complaints. These include back pain, knee pain and groin pain. By practising different types of hip openings together, we aim to gain a better understanding of how the joints work for healthy mobility. At the same time, greater mobility in this area allows us to learn more challenging asanas and discover new inner space.
Healthy hips require not only mobility but also a certain stability that protects us from wear and tear, degeneration and injury. Stability of the hips is a prerequisite for inner stability and focus.
The workshop is aimed at yoga practitioners who have at least 1 year of regular practice in Iyenga yoga. The asanas are based on the new Syllabus Level 1 and 2.

The workshop is offered as a face-to-face and online class.
