Turning Upside Down:
Understanding Headstand & Shoulderstand
with Elizabeth Brass
28. Juni 2015 13:00-16:00 Uhr
Headstand (Sirsasana) and Shoulderstand (Sarvangasana) are called the king and queen or father and mother of all the yoga poses. These names explain that these important poses are a pair. In certain systems of hatha yoga, these asanas are considered the foundation upon which a yoga practice should be built, since there are great benefits when done correctly. Headstand heats body and shoulderstand cools it down; to achieve the balance that we seek in yoga, it is important to have both postures in our practice. Headstand stimulates the brain and shoulderstand creates harmony in the nervous and endocrine systems. In this workshop, we will explore how to perform these poses correctly for individual bodies. We will look at the classical poses and variations so everyone can find the best way to practice for poise, vibrancy, and health in body and mind.
This workshop is open to everyone who has already learned the fundamentals of headstand and shoulderstand.
If you have chronic neck and shoulder problems, please speak to Elizabeth, if this workshop is appropriate for you.
