Martina, who grew up in Austria, has been practising yoga for 15 years. To deepen her yoga practice, Martina practiced Iyengar yoga for the first time with Patricia Walden in Boston in 2008. Since then, the method of B.K.S Iyengar has not let her go. After 3 years of training with Margareta Eckl and Michael Forbes in Munich, Martina was certified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher in 2016. Since 2019 she lives with her family in Berlin and regularly attends classes with Liz.
For Martina, Iyengar yoga is the way to “recalibrate” the body. For all people, unhealthy postural habits strengthen over the years. When practising precise asanas, weak parts are strengthened and stiff areas can be released. The whole body awakens and realigns itself. As the body moves into better alignment, less muscular effort is required – relaxation naturally increases.
